Visitors to British Columbia can arrive by air, road, rail or ferry. BC has five international airports, but the main gateway for flights is the Vancouver International Airport.
Getting Here
Getting to BC from Australia and New Zealand has never been easier. Air Canada now flies direct from Sydney, Australia, while Air New Zealand flies direct from Auckland, New Zealand. Flights take just 14 hours.
Several other airlines, including Cathay Pacific, United, V Australia and Qantas, fly to Vancouver International Airport from the South Pacific via other destinations.
Getting Around
A car is an ideal way to travel if you prefer to get around and see the sights independently and at your own pace. The province's highway and road system is extensive, well signed and well maintained.
Renting a car is simple: many car rental companies operate in airports and urban areas; all that is required is a valid Australian or New Zealand driver's licence. And remember to drive on the right-hand side of the road.
If you have a jam-packed travel schedule, or are trying to reach some of the more out-of-the-way places in BC, you might want to opt for the convenience of air travel by plane, floatplane or helicopter.
